On Saturday, March 4, 2005, the Deacons of our church sponsored a “Cabin Fever Pizza Party,” for our congregation, neighboring congregations, and everyone else in our local community. We wanted to do something to lift the spirits of our people, who had been confined to the safety of their homes, during the winter snow. While getting together with friends over pizza is enjoyable, we wanted them to have a special experience, and decided we needed special entertainment.
We have had many musical groups at our church for events in the past, but this time we wanted to do something different. Therefore, I went on the internet and searched for a Christian musical group, and found CHALICE. And what a great find it was! Although I had heard clips of their music online, I never heard them in person, nor had anyone else in the Deacons, or in our congregation. We threw caution to the wind, and booked them for our party.
The day of our party, the members of CHALICE came into our church and endeared themselves to all who attended, through their warm personalities and wonderful music. It was a very casual atmosphere, as the audience was invited to join in whenever the spirit moved them. And, the spirit moved them quite often.
Those in attendance loved the music, and asked that we schedule CHALICE again. Church members who were not present for the party were told of the wonderful group they missed, and they too, have asked us to bring them back. And, we will.
If you are looking for an uplifting, spiritual, lively program, then I highly recommend you schedule CHALICE.
Sincerely, Barbara Diller, President CPC Deacons
