The teacher had said it could be a few weeks before they could get to doing the work on the bus since the students were still in the theory part but they must have been excited to see the bus because he called us already with a preliminary list of needed parts.

It’s not too bad, but bad enough.

It needs a new muffler, radiator, airbags (of course), and some other smaller parts. The teacher estimated a couple of thousand dollars would be needed for the parts.

It’s our responsibility to buy the parts and get them to the school so we’re looking for the parts and the money to pay for them. Please pray with us that God would make a way!

Lou was following in the van and said it was about the scariest thing he ever saw in his life. One good thing is that they were only a few miles from the school so they drove it leaning to one side.

Emily and a few of her friends went along for the joy ride, and what a ride it was! I asked her to take a few pictures of it leaning so I could post them here but she forgot.

Now we wait to hear from the school to see what parts are needed.

A friend, who has been learning to fix diesel engines, asked his school if they would consider taking the bus as a project and doing the needed work on it. The school agreed! Praise God the labor will be free. All we need to pay for is parts.

As soon as Gary can get a free evening he and Lou will be taking the bus to Rosedale Technical School in Carnegie to do the work.

A friend came by and offered to help find the fuse.

His electrical background realized that it wasn’t a fuse afterall. Instead a wire was shorting out. So he and Lou ran a new wire from the dashboard to the rear brake light and NOW we have brake lights again!!!

It was a 2 day process to run the electrical line but thank God, it’s done! Just in time to take it for inspection!

This morning while we were getting ready for church Lou was running the bus a little to try to charge the batteries and the lady next door called the fire company for carbon monoxide fumes.

So several fire trucks and police cars were parked in front of the house…again.

Apparently the bus fumes were going right into her window and instead of shutting the window she called the police and the fire department.

Lou had developed a ventilation system to keep the exhaust fumes from going into the next door window, especially since the bus parks between two houses. He ran a large tube under the deck and up over our roof to allow the fumes to escape without causing anyone to smell it. But apparently the hose vibrated loose. The fireman told Lou that the way he had it set up was not good enough and needed a fan to help blow the fumes up the pipe.

Another project.

We took the bus up Saturday night and stayed over. Gary did a great job maneuvering the bus through the campground, even backed it into a spot like a pro. Still no plumbing but at least they gave us a spot near a public bathroom.
