We had our first fundraiser to help with the expenses of the repairs and remodeling. It was held at Port Vue United Methodist Church. We had a spaghetti dinner with a concert by Chalice. We made centerpieces of paper buses, an exact replica of our bus, that had a hole in the top that could be used as a bank for people to help save their change for the bus fund.

- He anointed the bus for safe travels and very little “road kill”

- To conclude, as tradition and customs would entail for a ship’s maiden voyage, we were going to break a bottle of champagne over the bus but instead we just sprinkled it with sparkling water.
